Shipping Policy Generator Skill for Online Stores

Use this shipping policy generator Skill to explain how your store ships orders, what delivery costs and what customers should do when a parcel is delayed or damaged. Give your assistant the actual handling times, destination rates, free-shipping rules and customs responsibilities; it turns those details into a consistent policy draft for your store and support team.

Shipping policy generator: what to tell shoppers

Shipping Policy turns merchant rules into sections covering handling, transit, tracking and parcel problems. It separates the time spent preparing an order from the carrier's delivery estimate, so customers can understand when the shipping clock starts and which stage a delay concerns.

Use it when creating or revising a Shopify or independent-store policy. Supply the conditions that actually apply, including destination exceptions and how discounts affect free shipping. The result is policy text and support guidance; changing checkout charges or sending tracking updates is a separate store configuration task.

02

Is this Skill right for your store?

Shipping Policy suits physical-goods stores that have agreed delivery rules but need a clear customer-facing page. It is useful when handling time, delivery time, free shipping and customs terms are scattered across spreadsheets, checkout settings and support replies.

01

Separate dispatch preparation from carrier transit

Provide handling and transit windows separately for stocked items, preorders and destinations where the rules differ. The draft can explain when preparation ends and carrier transit begins, making delivery expectations and delay investigations more precise.

02

Explain free shipping and cross-border charges

Specify the currency, shipping charge, qualifying merchandise subtotal and destination exclusions. For cross-border orders, state who pays import duties so a domestic free-shipping offer does not accidentally imply that international delivery and customs charges are also covered.

03

Give support a consistent parcel-problem policy

Define when tracking is provided, when to contact support and what evidence is needed for a lost or damaged parcel. Keep the review and remedy rules explicit so the draft does not turn a case assessment into an unconditional replacement promise.

03

Before you use it

Prepare the following business inputs and software before starting the workflow.

Destinations and carriers

Prepare confirmed origins, destination regions, carriers and service levels.

Rates and handling times

Prepare actual rates, free-shipping thresholds, handling times and approved lost-parcel remedies.

Policy owner

Prepare an owner to review commercial promises and the upstream usage terms.

Install

Download and unpack AI Avalanche’s paid Claude Skills Ultimate Bundle first. Then choose an assistant installation prompt or terminal commands below; both use your local shipping-policy folder.

After downloading and unpacking the paid bundle, send the request below to Codex or Claude Code with the shipping-policy folder’s path. The assistant will copy the complete folder into its own Skill directory and check the installed files.

  1. Locate Claude Skills Ultimate Bundle/Legal & Compliance/shipping-policy in your downloaded bundle.
  2. Replace [SHIPPING_POLICY_FOLDER] in the prompt with that folder’s full path, then send it to a file-capable Codex or Claude Code session.
  3. Check the installation path returned by the assistant. Start a new session if needed, then ask it to use shipping-policy with your store’s delivery rules.
Install Shipping Policy from the AI Avalanche bundle I have already downloaded. Execute the installation and report the actual result. Local source folder: [SHIPPING_POLICY_FOLDER] 1. Confirm this folder contains SKILL.md and read it before proceeding. The original bundle location is Claude Skills Ultimate Bundle/Legal & Compliance/shipping-policy/. If the path is missing or incorrect, ask me for the local folder path. Do not fetch a substitute package from another publisher. 2. For Codex, use ~/.agents/skills/shipping-policy; for Claude Code, use ~/.claude/skills/shipping-policy. Install only for the app I am using. Copy the entire folder, preserving any supporting files and relative paths. Keep any license or notice files that came with the folder. If the destination already exists, compare the files and show the differences before replacing anything. 3. Compare the source and installed file lists and file hashes. Report the absolute installation path and whether all files match. Do not claim the app has loaded the Skill unless you have checked that separately; explain whether I should start a new session. 4. Tell me how to invoke shipping-policy in this app. List the facts I should supply: shipping origins and destinations, processing time, transit times, rates and free-shipping threshold, tracking, duties, split shipments, lost parcels and a support contact. Use facts I provide when drafting the policy; leave missing business decisions as questions. Do not publish a policy or change my storefront during installation.

Get started: three store tasks

Starter prompts for the main use cases—copy and use them directly.

01

Draft a domestic shipping page

Draft a domestic shipping page to produce a shipping draft with separate handling and transit sections. Regions, carriers, actual rates, handling time and support contact.

Show prompt and variablesHide prompt and variables
Using the shipping-policy workflow and [INPUT], draft a domestic policy. Use only confirmed rates, thresholds and remedies. Leave missing values as questions. Do not reuse fees, cutoff times or contact addresses from examples.

Replace these variables

[INPUT]
Regions, carriers, actual rates, handling time and support contact.
02

Add international delivery conditions

Add international delivery conditions to produce country/service tables and unresolved responsibility questions. Supported countries and confirmed customs and delivery responsibilities.

Show prompt and variablesHide prompt and variables
Use [INPUT] to draft international shipping sections. Separate handling and transit, flag unsupported countries, and ask who pays duties when unconfirmed. Do not assume that the recipient always pays.

Replace these variables

[INPUT]
Supported countries and confirmed customs and delivery responsibilities.
03

Review delays and exceptions

Review delays and exceptions to produce exception sections and a list of promises needing approval. Approved delay, loss, damage and special-address procedures.

Show prompt and variablesHide prompt and variables
Check the draft against [INPUT]. Identify every refund, reshipment, response-time and holiday promise that lacks evidence. Keep delivery estimates conditional and list questions before the page is published.

Worked example: Write US and Canada shipping terms for a homeware store

Cedar & Cart Demo ships mugs and towels from Austin: 1–2 business days handling; US shipping $5.95, free from a $75 discounted subtotal; Canada $18 with seller-paid import duties.

Steps and prompt

  1. Prepare the attached business materials, preserving amounts, units, dates and metric definitions.
  2. Write an English shipping policy from our approved merchant facts for the store's help centre. Cover processing, preorder timing, domestic and Canada delivery, the free-shipping threshold after discounts, duties, tracking, damage and lost parcels. Resolve the old draft's conflicting Canada terms, then check the customer-facing costs for US baskets of $74.99 and $75 and a Canada basket of $100.
  3. Submit the exact prompt below. Read the primary deliverable on the right and download all deliverables for the team handoff.

Case input files: business-inputs.zip

Use the shipping-policy Skill.

The attached business materials are:
- inputs/merchant.json
- inputs/shipping-draft.md

Deliver a complete result.md report that the operations team can read, plus any finished files needed for this task. Keep supporting calculations and evidence with the deliverables. Write the report in English; use the requested target language for customer-facing copy. The business datasets are fictional examples unless the brief explicitly names a live public website.

Processing your order

We ship from Austin, Texas. Standard orders are processed within 1–2 business days before carrier handoff. Preorders require 5–7 business days of processing.

Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding US federal holidays. Processing time and carrier transit time are separate: the delivery estimates below begin after the carrier receives the parcel.

Shipping within the contiguous United States

MethodEstimated carrier transitShipping charge
USPS Ground Advantage — merchandise subtotal below $75 after discounts3–5 business days$5.95
USPS Ground Advantage — merchandise subtotal of $75 or more after discounts3–5 business daysFree

All prices are in USD. Free shipping is based on the discounted merchandise subtotal, not the pre-discount value. A subtotal of $74.99 does not qualify; a subtotal of exactly $75 does.

Shipping to Canada

MethodEstimated carrier transitShipping charge
UPS Standard7–12 business days$18

Canada orders do not qualify for free shipping, including orders above $75. We ship these orders with import duties and taxes paid by the seller under the supplied DDP arrangement; we do not assign those import charges to the recipient.

We currently serve the contiguous United States and Canada. Other destinations are outside this policy's available shipping options.

Tracking your parcel

We email tracking information after carrier handoff. Use that tracking information to follow the shipment. An order confirmation is not confirmation that the carrier has received the parcel.

Delays and delivery estimates

Transit times are estimates, not guaranteed arrival dates. Weather, carrier disruption, high shipment volumes or customs processing may affect delivery. Processing time must be added to carrier transit when planning an order.

If the estimated transit window has passed, contact us with your order number and tracking information. We will investigate with the carrier before deciding the appropriate remedy.

Damaged or missing parcels

For damage, contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and photographs of the damage. We review the appropriate remedy individually; this policy does not promise an automatic replacement or refund.

For a parcel that has not arrived after its estimated transit window, contact us so we can investigate. Retain the tracking information and any relevant delivery updates for the review.

PO Boxes and address changes

USPS domestic shipments can be sent to PO Boxes. Canada UPS shipments cannot be sent to PO Boxes.

Request address changes before carrier handoff. We will review the request, but a change is not guaranteed.

Holiday orders

We have not confirmed a holiday-arrival guarantee or a holiday ordering cutoff. The stated processing and estimated transit windows continue to apply; do not treat them as a promise of delivery by a particular holiday.

Shipping questions

Contact [email protected] with your order number and question.

Merchant business data is synthetic. Website observations, when present, come from the public URLs listed in the report.

Frequently asked questions

Use these answers to turn delivery rules into a policy shoppers can understand, including timing, international charges and Shopify publication.

What should I prepare before generating a shipping policy?

Prepare the rules your team actually follows: shipping origin and destinations, handling time, delivery options, charges, free-shipping conditions, tracking notices and the contact process for delivery problems. Add exceptions such as preorders, PO boxes, remote areas or products shipped separately.

A useful input is concrete: “US shipping costs $5.95 below a $75 discounted merchandise subtotal; Canada costs $18 and never uses that free-shipping threshold.” Shipping Policy can turn those facts into customer-facing wording and expose contradictions with an older draft. Keep unresolved decisions on a short question list instead of filling them with an attractive promise the warehouse cannot meet.

How should a shipping policy distinguish processing time from delivery time?

State when each clock starts. Handling covers the period before the parcel is handed to the carrier; transit begins after that handoff. In the fictional case, 1–2 business days of handling and 3–5 business days of US transit form a 4–7-business-day planning range, rather than a promise of arrival in 3–5 days from checkout.

Also define business days, any order cutoff and preorder exceptions. Use the same timing in the policy, product page and support replies. If a holiday cutoff is unconfirmed, ask the Skill to omit a guaranteed arrival date and explain the normal estimate instead.

How do I explain international shipping charges and import duties?

Treat the delivery charge and import costs as separate questions. List the destination, service, shipping price and who is responsible for import duties and taxes under your actual arrangement. In the worked example, Canada costs $18 and the seller pays import duties and taxes; a $100 Canadian order still does not qualify for US free shipping.

Give the Skill the same responsibility shown in your carrier setup and checkout. If the responsibility is undecided, settle it before publishing that destination's policy. Ask it to flag any old text that says the recipient pays when your supplied arrangement says the seller pays, rather than blending the two statements.

Can I use it for dropshipping, preorders or split shipments?

You can give the Skill rules for those scenarios, but they need their own timing and responsibility details. For dropshipping, supply each supplier's handling range, shipping origin and tracking process. For preorders, separate the expected dispatch window from normal stocked items. For split shipments, explain whether tracking and delivery estimates apply to each parcel.

The published local case tested preorder wording, not a live supplier integration. Ask for a draft based on your actual supplier information and review how mixed carts are handled. The Skill will not monitor a supplier, create tracking events or make a late shipment meet the written estimate.

How do I add the generated shipping policy to Shopify?

Review the draft against your configured shipping rates, then put the approved text in the shipping policy field under Shopify's store policies. Check the published page and customer-facing policy links, including the checkout route and any footer menu you maintain. Shopify also offers policy-generation features, so compare the draft with the settings already managed by your store.

Installing this Skill does not connect it to Shopify admin or change shipping zones. After adding the text, place test checkouts just below and at your free-shipping threshold, plus an international address. Fix differences between the amount charged and the promise shown before sending shoppers to the page.

Should shipping and return policies be combined?

They answer different moments in the order. Shipping explains dispatch, delivery costs, tracking and delivery problems. Returns explains eligibility, the return window, item condition, return postage and the refund process. You can cross-link them so a customer with a damaged parcel reaches the correct next step without encountering contradictory rules.

Keep repeated facts synchronized. In our sample, the damage-report process and the general change-of-mind return process have different purposes; neither should silently replace the other. If you need coordinated policy pages and navigation implemented in a website, compare Compliance Pages. Shipping Policy is the narrower choice for the delivery wording itself.
