Capabilities

A team can connect contacts, products, orders and consent records, then build emails, messages and automations around a customer action. CRM, Conversations, Commerce analytics and Aura sit alongside that core marketing work. The practical choice is whether the selected plan and store connection cover the channels and customer context the team actually needs.

How Brevo's customer platform is organized

This is a composition map, not a campaign timeline. Contacts and CRM records support marketing, sales, transactional and conversation work; Commerce, Analytics and Aura help operators inspect or prepare that work. The products have separate plan and entitlement boundaries, so the map does not imply one all-inclusive package.

What each module does and its role

Contacts and CRM

Contacts and CRM is the shared record behind Brevo's marketing and sales work. Teams can import or connect contacts, maintain attributes and identifiers, create segments and use those records in campaigns, automations or deal work. Field quality, consent and synchronization remain the operator's responsibility; storing a contact does not by itself make the record current or eligible for every channel.

Sales pipelines and tasks

Sales teams use pipelines, deal stages, owners and tasks to organize follow-up work around the same customer record. A documented automation can react when a deal changes stage, wait, and send an email or continue into another action, but the deal must be linked to a contact and the pipeline stages must already be configured. This is a practical CRM and sales surface, not evidence that Brevo replaces every specialist sales system.

Marketing campaigns

Campaigns is Brevo's mature outbound work surface for email and supported messaging channels. For email, a marketer can start from scratch or a template, use the drag-and-drop editor, preview different devices and display modes, send a test, then send immediately or schedule a time; some plans add best-time delivery. SMS, WhatsApp and mobile-push availability, credits and destination rules still need plan-by-plan confirmation.

Automations

Automations turns customer or website activity into an editable Trigger → Rule → Action workflow. A team can use built-in cart, form or order events, custom tracker or API events, filters, delays, branches and channel actions, then preview, test, activate and inspect run statistics. Aura can prepare a ready-to-edit first workflow from a prompt, but the team still reviews conditions, content, re-entry and exit logic before activation.

Transactional

Transactional is the operational-message layer for order confirmations, password resets, shipping notices and similar event-driven communication. Brevo documents SMTP and API-oriented delivery paths so an application or store event can trigger the message separately from an ordinary campaign. The store still needs reliable events, templates, authentication and monitoring; this module should not be judged only by the campaign editor experience.

Conversations

Conversations is Brevo's service interaction surface for supported live chat, calls and meetings. It brings these interactions closer to the shared customer context so a team can continue a conversation without treating each channel as a separate contact list. Mobile-store feedback applies to the Conversations companion app only and does not prove the quality of the email editor, automation canvas or full help-desk operation.

Commerce and Analytics

Commerce summarizes sales, revenue, top products and customer activity, while Analytics covers documented campaign, automation, contact and revenue dashboards. These views help operators compare activity across the platform, but they reflect the events and definitions supplied to Brevo. Analytics also has plan boundaries, including Pro or Enterprise scope for some published capabilities, so dashboard availability must be checked in the quote.

Aura

Aura is Brevo's editable AI assistance across marketing content, segments, CRM and sales work, automation setup and in-product guidance. For automation, it can preconfigure waits, triggers, splits, channel settings, contact attributes, lists or webhooks from a prompt; published guidance still distinguishes this from generating every email body or every segmentation rule. Aura is an assistant inside the operating surfaces, not an autonomous guarantee of a correct customer journey.

Ecommerce segmentation, event-triggered journeys, and email or SMS automation are the central growth workflow. Consent, event mapping, contact growth, and message volume still determine cost and operating quality.

Frequently asked questions

What data is needed for Brevo automations?

Marketing automations rely on usable contacts, consent status and the customer, product or order events chosen for the journey. The store should decide which events trigger a message and keep those fields updating before turning on a live workflow.

What drives Brevo's monthly cost?

The selected plan, email volume, SMS usage, contact scale and optional products all affect the recurring cost. The page's calculator is the right place to compare a normal month with a promotion-heavy month.

Can one Brevo account cover marketing, CRM and conversations?

Brevo groups these areas in one account, but their availability and store-data context vary by plan and connection. Teams should check the exact channel, user permission and commerce-data needs before using it as the main workspace for all three jobs.

Completely useless for email marketing unless you spam your customers. Brevo is pushing "performance indicators". If your marketing strategy is not to spam your customers every day, but instead only write when there's something relevant happening (eg. every 3 months), you will fail these thresholds and your account will instantly be locked. They will refuse to unlock it until you unsubscribe, at which point it magically is possible to unlock the account after all. Avoid this at all costs for email marketing and just use the default shopify app. It works just as well, and won't lock your account over made-up numbers.

I had an issue where activating the Brevo sync created a duplicate Brevo account instead of connecting to my existing one. Piyush from the Customer Success Team resolved this quickly, professionally and with great care - making sure my existing Brevo data remained intact and was set as the source of truth throughout the process. Really impressed with the speed and quality of support. Thank you Piyush!

We were struggling to get the service set up and running. Brevo's customer service rep Reese refused to set up a 30 minute orientation call. Apparently we don't have a high enough subscription package. Don't be fooled. Unless you have a premium subscription package you can only receive email help where they will send you link to docs you have to sift through to try and find answers. They did find time to call me several times to try and sell me more email sends and a higher subscription package. The sales guy was trying so hard to keep me on the phone it was almost comical. I was holding my 11month old son who was crying and he asked if I could get on a 5 minute demo call. I told him no I needed to go take care of my son and he kept pushing saying "yes but it will only take 5 minutes of your time." Their work flow currently is -- if a brand new customer is struggling to get the service to work properly, deny an orientation call to get them in a good place and call them multiple times to get them sell them more stuff. We asked them to cancel the service once and they did not address it in their reply. We have asked to cancel it for a 2nd time. I will provide an update if they refused to address it again. Be careful with this company. They do not care about your marketing success only selling you more stuff. Would not recommend and would not use again even if they try to fix the horrible experience we have had. Disgusting company.
