How Adobe Firefly works
Adobe Firefly supports text-to-image generation from prompts, Generative Fill for extending and editing product images in Photoshop, image expansion, background replacement, and video generation. It integrates directly with Photoshop, Illustrator, Express, and Premiere Pro workflows. Content Credentials record AI-content provenance, and enterprise IP-indemnity options are available.
From the Firefly homepage, the creator chooses image or video generation. Each route accepts a prompt and supported references, then applies the controls available for the selected model before generation. The creator can return to the settings to generate another image or download an image result; video results can be downloaded or, where offered, opened in a supported editor.
Available controls depend on the selected model. Reference media guides the result but does not guarantee exact product identity. The captured guide labels the Firefly video editor as beta; downloading or opening an editor is separate from publishing the asset in a store or advertisement.
The creator uploads an audio or video file, checks the detected source language and selects target languages. Firefly generates the translated speech, then lets the creator review each language and download its output. Supported video jobs can also use optional lip-sync; audio translation produces downloadable audio files.
For video, use clear, single-speaker source material that meets the documented requirements. The translation interface does not let the creator edit the transcript, so this flow does not promise a transcript-correction loop. Translation creates localized files, not automatically published regional campaigns.
With an authorized MCP client, the operator supplies a production request and files or file URLs, then creates or selects a Firefly workflow. Submission starts a background job with a tracking ID. The client checks its status and retrieves the output links when the job has completed.
Submission is not completion, and output links are temporary. Publishing a workflow definition is an optional way to reuse that workflow; it does not publish generated media to a website or storefront.
