DeepL
DeepL is a language AI suite with four current products: Translator for text and media, Write for writing improvement, Voice for real-time speech translation, and API for embedded language workflows. A multilingual commerce team can work directly in Translator or Write, use Voice during meetings and in-person conversations, or connect DeepL to websites and internal tools through the API. Translator, API, and Voice use separate plan families, so their prices and included usage should be compared independently.

Buying view: DeepL fits teams that need more than one language work surface but want those tasks under one provider. The first buying decision is which surface to use: direct Translator or Write access, Voice with its minute and participant limits, or API usage. The official pricing page does not make those plan families interchangeable.
Capabilities
The current DeepL homepage presents Translator, Write, Voice, and API as four peer products. They share language technology and some customization concepts, but they serve different tasks: translating content, improving source writing, understanding live speech, or returning language output to another system. These are parallel product surfaces with separate commercial boundaries rather than one mandatory workflow.
What problem it addresses
Multilingual teams may need to translate text and files, improve original writing, understand live speech, or embed the same language tasks inside another system. Treating these as one undifferentiated translator hides different users, work surfaces, and purchasing decisions.
How people use it
DeepL currently presents four peer products rather than one sequential workflow. Translator handles direct text and media translation, Write improves original writing, Voice translates live speech, and API embeds Translate, Write, or Voice capabilities into websites, applications, and internal workflows. Their data controls and exact limits depend on the selected product family and plan.
This composition map shows four parallel product areas, not a required sequence. Translator handles direct translation, Write improves original writing, Voice handles live speech translation, and API embeds Translate, Write, or Voice capabilities in another system. Each area keeps its own plan and usage boundaries.
What each module does and its role
DeepL Translator
DeepL Translator is the direct workspace for teams translating text, documents, images, and other supported media. An operator can bring content into Translator, keep supported file structure intact, and apply available glossaries, style controls, or translation memory before reviewing the result. It is the suite's main human-facing translation product; file allowances, customization controls, and access to Translation Flow depend on the selected plan.
DeepL Write
DeepL Write is the writing assistant for teams refining emails, reports, presentations, and other original-language content before it is sent or published. It corrects grammar, punctuation, and spelling, suggests rewrites and word choices, and lets the writer choose styles and tones for the intended audience. It works beside Translator as a separate writing task, and the current pricing page treats Write Pro differently across Translator and API plans.
DeepL Voice
DeepL Voice is the suite's real-time speech-translation product. Online meeting participants can receive translated captions in Microsoft Teams, Zoom Meetings, and Google Meet, while in-person conversations can use live captions and translated voice on iOS, Android, or the web. DeepL also offers a Voice API for embedding speech translation and live interpretation into contact-center and sales tools. Direct Voice plans are governed by translated-audio minutes and participant limits, and the current page says translated voice is available for in-person conversations while online-meeting voice is still coming soon.
DeepL API
DeepL API is the developer surface for adding language work to a website, application, ecommerce site, internal tool, or voice workflow. Technical teams can use separate Translate, Write, and Voice APIs to translate text or files, improve writing, or return real-time transcription and translated audio to their own system. This module supplies the embedded route for the other language jobs rather than a second human workspace. It requires an API key and implementation work, and the current API plans do not include access to the web translator.
Commercial plans
DeepL publishes three commercial families on the same United States pricing page. Translator plans price direct text and file work by user and allowance; API plans combine access with character and speech usage; Voice plans price translated-audio minutes and participant capacity by user. The tables keep current monthly and annual USD prices, included features, add-ons, fair-usage notes, and quote-only boundaries attached to the correct family.

Comparable tools: price and workflow
| Tool | Workflow difference | Official public price reference |
|---|---|---|
| Weglot | Weglot is centered on website translation and multilingual SEO across a published site. DeepL covers a broader set of direct, speech, writing, and API language tasks, but it is not by itself a complete multilingual website-publishing layer. | $0 (2,000 words, 1 language) |
| Lokalise AI | Lokalise AI is built around continuous localization work across design, code, and content systems. DeepL offers direct language products and APIs, while a team that needs translation-project coordination across software assets should compare the localization-management workflow separately. | $144/month |
| Jasper AI | Jasper is a marketing-content workspace for governed brand content and reusable agents. DeepL Write improves existing writing and sits beside translation and speech products, so it is the closer choice when multilingual language work matters more than broad campaign generation. | $69/month per seat, or $59/month billed annually |
| Shopify Magic | Shopify Magic provides generative assistance inside Shopify merchant workflows. DeepL is not limited to Shopify and adds dedicated translation, writing, speech, and API surfaces, but it does not replace Shopify-native actions performed by Magic or Sidekick. | Included; feature availability varies |
| Copy.ai | Copy.ai is a GTM automation platform for reusable sales, marketing, and customer workflows. DeepL focuses on language output across direct workspaces, live speech, and APIs, so teams should compare workflow automation separately from translation and writing quality controls. | $29/month, or $24/month annually; 5 seats |
Frequently asked questions
Does DeepL include speech translation?
Yes. DeepL Voice is the suite's real-time speech-translation product. It covers translated captions for Microsoft Teams, Zoom Meetings, and Google Meet; captions and translated voice for in-person conversations; and a Voice API for embedded customer-service and sales workflows. Voice uses its own minute and participant limits, so Translator plan access should not be treated as a Voice entitlement.
How are DeepL plans divided?
The current United States pricing page separates Translator, API, and Voice into three plan families. Translator has character, file, customization, and team limits; API combines plan access with character and speech usage; Voice uses translated-audio minutes and participant limits. A plan name or included feature in one tab does not establish access in another tab.
Do DeepL API plans include the web translator?
No. The current Developer, Growth, and Enterprise API cards each state that the API plan does not include access to the web translator. A team that needs both an embedded API route and the direct Translator workspace should treat them as separate commercial requirements.
