Buying view: DeepL fits teams that need more than one language work surface but want those tasks under one provider. The first buying decision is which surface to use: direct Translator or Write access, Voice with its minute and participant limits, or API usage. DeepL Translator
DeepL Translator is the direct workspace for teams translating text, documents, images, and other supported media. An operator can bring content into Translator, keep supported file structure intact, and apply available glossaries, style controls, or translation memory before reviewing the result. It is the suite's main human-facing translation product; file allowances, customization controls, and access to Translation Flow depend on the selected plan.
DeepL Write
DeepL Write is the writing assistant for teams refining emails, reports, presentations, and other original-language content before it is sent or published. It corrects grammar, punctuation, and spelling, suggests rewrites and word choices, and lets the writer choose styles and tones for the intended audience. It works beside Translator as a separate writing task, and the current pricing page treats Write Pro differently across Translator and API plans.
DeepL Voice
DeepL Voice is the suite's real-time speech-translation product. Online meeting participants can receive translated captions in Microsoft Teams, Zoom Meetings, and Google Meet, while in-person conversations can use live captions and translated voice on iOS, Android, or the web. DeepL also offers a Voice API for embedding speech translation and live interpretation into contact-center and sales tools. Direct Voice plans include translated voice for online meetings and in-person conversations, with limits on translated-audio minutes and participant counts.
DeepL API
DeepL API is the developer surface for adding language work to a website, application, ecommerce site, internal tool, or voice workflow. Technical teams can use separate Translate, Write, and Voice APIs to translate text or files, improve writing, or return real-time transcription and translated audio to their own system. This module supplies the embedded route for the other language jobs rather than a second human workspace. It requires an API key and implementation work, and the current API plans do not include access to the web translator.

Translator is the workspace for translating text and files directly. Paid plans include 30 Voice minutes per user each month; the minutes reset monthly, do not carry over or stack with the minutes included with a paid Voice seat, and do not trigger overage charges.

DeepL API plans
API plans let developers add translation and writing features to another system. They do not include Pro access to the web translator or desktop apps. Developer has a one-time allowance; Growth has recurring included usage plus overage charges.

DeepL Voice plans
Voice plans provide live translation for meetings and in-person conversations. Starter assigns minutes to each user; Business pools its users’ minutes across the subscription. Unused monthly minutes do not carry over.

- API file billing: Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PDF files each count for at least 50,000 characters, even when shorter. HTML, SRT, text and XLIFF are counted by actual characters.
- Legacy API Free and API Pro are no longer sold to new subscribers. Their historical allowances and rates do not describe Developer or Growth.
- Direct subscriptions renew automatically. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period; annual billing is an annual commitment. Cancellation during an eligible trial avoids subscription charges.

Does DeepL include speech translation?
Yes. DeepL Voice is the suite's real-time speech-translation product. It covers translated captions for Microsoft Teams, Zoom Meetings, and Google Meet; captions and translated voice for in-person conversations; and a Voice API for embedded customer-service and sales workflows. Voice uses its own minute and participant limits, so Translator plan access should not be treated as a Voice entitlement.
How are DeepL plans divided?
The current United States pricing page separates Translator, API, and Voice into three plan families. Translator has character, file, customization, and team limits; API combines plan access with character and speech usage; Voice uses translated-audio minutes and participant limits. A plan name or included feature in one tab does not establish access in another tab.
Do DeepL API plans include the web translator?
No. The current Developer, Growth, and Enterprise API cards each state that the API plan does not include access to the web translator. A team that needs both an embedded API route and the direct Translator workspace should treat them as separate commercial requirements.
How does DeepL Write differ from DeepL Translator?
DeepL Translator changes text from one language to another, while DeepL Write helps improve wording and style. A team adapting product copy may need translation first and editing afterward. The two tasks should be chosen according to whether the text needs a new language or clearer expression.
