These are complementary measurement jobs, not interchangeable scores; Apex uses a selected North Star signal after measurement rather than replacing MTA, MMM or incrementality work.

What each module does and its role

The Northbeam module descriptions explain the roles of Data foundation and Overview, Metrics Explorer, Multi-Touch Attribution, and Clicks + Deterministic Views.

Data foundation and Overview

Northbeam's pixel, order feed and connected channel records form the data foundation for its measurement views. Overview is the first operating surface after login: teams can rearrange tiles, choose metrics such as ROAS, CAC or transactions, rename and save views, and share those views across the team. A configurable dashboard improves access to the data but does not resolve missing events, conversion lag or disagreement between source definitions.

Metrics Explorer

Metrics Explorer is the investigation surface for comparing selected metrics, attribution models, channels and dimensions without limiting analysis to a fixed dashboard tile. Growth teams use it to move from a high-level performance change to a narrower operating question. The interpretation still depends on the chosen model, date range and source completeness, so a chart difference is not automatically a causal effect.

Multi-Touch Attribution

Multi-Touch Attribution gives a growth team a daily operating view of customer touchpoints and attributed revenue across channels. Northbeam's models split credit according to documented definitions so operators can compare campaigns and budget decisions at a tactical cadence. The output is attributed performance under a model, not direct proof of incremental revenue.

Clicks + Deterministic Views

Clicks + Deterministic Views extends attribution beyond click events to supported view-through impressions. It helps teams inspect the revenue impact assigned to video and reach activity, subject to the participating platform data and the model's documented scope.

Creative, product and subscription analytics

Northbeam's diagnostic views break attributed performance into questions about creative, products and subscription behavior rather than stopping at a channel total. Operators use these views to identify what deserves a closer test or budget discussion. They inherit the same event, model and lag boundaries as the wider measurement system and should not be presented as a separate source of causal truth.

Media Mix Modeling+

Media Mix Modeling+ is the longer-horizon forecasting and budget-scenario workspace for the wider marketing mix. Teams can model spend, promotions and seasonality, then compare alternative allocations in a self-service dashboard. It supports planning over weeks or months and complements, rather than replaces, the tactical touchpoint view.

Incrementality

Incrementality testing asks whether a marketing action caused lift that would not otherwise have occurred. Northbeam presents it alongside MTA and MMM as a distinct measurement method that can help calibrate broader decisions. Test design, eligible channels, holdouts, timing and statistical interpretation need to be confirmed for the account; an incrementality label alone does not validate every campaign result.

Northbeam Apex

Northbeam Apex is an activation integration that sends an ad-level and order-level Northbeam signal back to a supported ad-platform algorithm. The team selects a North Star revenue type, attribution model, window and accrual basis, connects the required account permissions and allows calibration; changing that North Star can reset a roughly two-week calibration period. Data sharing and live optimization are separate states, current platform support is uneven, and the integration is additive rather than a replacement for the platform pixel or CAPI.

ProductProduct scopeBest-fit scenarios and implementation responsibilitiesPricing and billing
NorthbeamCurrent productA first-party multi-touch attribution and marketing measurement platform for ecommerce growth teams. Incrementality testing can be added to Professional/Enterprise plans, while MMM+ is available as an Enterprise add-on.

Best fitBest when the main challenge is understanding contribution across ad channels and supporting budget decisions, rather than unifying all operational data such as inventory and retail.

ImplementationConnect ad platforms, stores, and first-party tracking. The plan determines ecommerce platform coverage, refresh frequency, exports, and advanced measurement capabilities.

RockerboxUnifies marketing data and provides MTA, MMM, and incrementality testing.

Best fitBest when you want to purchase multiple marketing measurement methods together, especially when you need the vendor to manage incrementality testing.

ImplementationProvide channel, conversion, and required historical data. Rockerbox explicitly provides managed services for the testing module.

Selection advice

Selecting paid-media measurement based on data volume and platform requirements

For paid-media attribution, evaluate Northbeam’s multi-touch attribution and advertising dashboards. Check ad spend, pageviews, and ecommerce-platform requirements when selecting an offer. When comparing Northbeam with Rockerbox, establish whether the need is for daily attribution alone or also for marketing mix modeling and incrementality experiments.

Checking the scope of incrementality and MMM

When incrementality experiments or marketing mix modeling are required, confirm whether the Northbeam offer includes them. Public plans list Incrementality and MMM+ as options for specific plans, so an MTA subscription does not establish access to every method. Apply the same method-by-method check to Rockerbox’s data requirements and services.

Comparing Polar when business reporting is also needed

Include Polar when the team also needs shared ecommerce metrics and business reporting. Polar provides a Snowflake data layer and BI, while Northbeam’s public plans emphasize media measurement. If considering both, confirm the data flows and metric definitions, including which reports will be used for business analysis and which will be used for media decisions.

Northbeam FAQs

Northbeam FAQs address “What question is Northbeam designed to answer?” and “What must be in place before using Northbeam to make budget decisions?”

What question is Northbeam designed to answer?

It helps marketing teams examine how channels contribute to ecommerce outcomes and compare budget decisions with several measurement methods. It should be used as decision support, not as the only financial record for a business.

What must be in place before budget decisions use Northbeam?

Advertising spend, ecommerce events, orders, pixel data, tagged traffic and relevant conversion data need consistent definitions. Refund treatment, timezones and finance reconciliation should be agreed before the figures drive budget changes.

What public price is available?

Northbeam lists Starter from $1,500 per month for brands with annual media spend below $1.5 million. Larger media scale uses custom pricing, so the spend definition, platform count and service scope should be confirmed.

Northbeam Shopify app only

Alpha LionUnited States

Have been using Northbeam since it's early days. Love how detailed it is and has allowed us to scale our ads well beyond $1million+ a month in ad spend with its analytics and reporting.

Miracle BrandUnited States

Northbeam is the best attribution + modeling tool we have used by far. It's the only tool we have used that allows us to get consistent data across different attribution models and windows. It allows us to understand 1st purchase vs. LTV ROAS. Their customer support is also extremely knowledgeable both technically and about the industry and has helped us do things we had no idea were possible. Highly recommend.
